Welcome to the EYFS. We aim to have a happy, fun filled class where children learn in a nourishing environment. Play, for children, is not just recreation, it’s their approach to life! Play is the child’s way to discover the world around them. The Early Years Foundation Stage gives your child the opportunity to flourish and thrive in their own unique ways. We are here to support your child to achieve to their full potential, developing independent, happy and confident individuals. .
Early Years Planning
Learning in EYFS
At Low Furness we follow Development Matters, which is a non- statutory curriculum guidance for the Early Years. We use this to inform the implementation of our own bespoke curriculum developed for our children.
We use Tapestry, which is an online platform, to record observations relating to progress and assessment, this helps children, staff and family to see the learning journey.
Hello I'm Miss Caragh Jackson
Reading and Writing in EYFS
Children will take part in a daily phonics lesson, following our school scheme Twinkl Phonics. Once children can blend they will begin to take books with words home. All children will take home a reading for enjoyment book too, for you to share at home together.
From our Twinkl scheme, there is now a website called Twinkl Go. This is were we can share activities, games, resources and books with you from our school account. You do not need to have an account to access these.
Our daily writing is called ‘Drawing Club’. This brings imagination to live. Vocabulary is introduced in a contextual way. Drawing develops the hand and mind. Drawing club has a huge impact on children’s confidence and joy.
It’s easier to browse the full-screen padlet here.
