At Low Furness, we aim to nurture our children’s natural curiosity about the world around them, embracing their sense of awe and wonder to guide them into becoming confident, enquiry-based learners.
Scientific enquiry skills are embedded into each topic that the children study. These topics are revisited and developed throughout their time at school so they can build on their knowledge and skills embed their learning.
We use the ‘CUSP’ scheme of work to deliver a coherent, knowledge-rich and enquiry-driven Science curriculum. Lessons are carefully structured with an explicit focus on scientific vocabulary, retrieval practice, and regular knowledge checks to ensure retention and progression. Through cross-curricular links and meaningful practical investigations, we enable children to apply their learning, deepen their understanding, and see themselves as scientists.
Our Science curriculum encourages children to value themselves, care for others, enjoy learning and appreciate the world around them. Science at Low Furness
