Transition to Secondary School

As a school we understand that transition to secondary school is an exciting time, but can also be daunting for some children and parents. 

We offer a range of support as a school for this transition. 

In Year 5, children attend some taster lessons at Ulverston Victoria High School (UVHS), which is one of our local secondary schools, and also attend a taster day. This allows them to start to get to know the school and get a taste of what secondary school is like. In the Summer term of Year 6, all of the children spend two days in their chosen Secondary School. 

We highly recommend that you attend some of the ‘Open Nights’ of Secondary schools before you make your choice. You can find some helpful links to some local Secondary schools here:
