We were excited to celebrate the special 80th anniversary of VE day. All of the children came dressed up in 1940s style outfits from wartime workers, soldiers to iconic styles. We took part in the special ‘Great Big’ Live VE day assembly in the morning, followed by a whole school picnic lunch and then we continued our celebrations outside in the afternoon.
This milestone is an opportunity for schools across the country to come together unity, honouring the sacrifices made for the peace and freedom we enjoy today. The assembly allowed the children to hear from one of the surviving veterans so that their stories can be passed down to the generation who will be responsible for peace in the future.
John 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
