Year 3 and 4 went on a trip to Quarry Bank Mill in Styal, to link with their Victorian History topic. This was a great day with lots of different activities planned throughout the day. The children were immersed into the life of Victorian children in the apprentice house. We then had a tour of the mill, which still runs today, and saw how all of the machines run. We then talked about all of the different jobs that the children would be expected to do and had a go at doing them. Don’t worry it wasn’t under any machines like the Victorians!
‘I really enjoyed the apprentice house because the lady was treating us like Victorian children’. Evie, Year 3
‘I really enjoyed listening to the different machines running in the mill’. Henry, Year 4
