Special Educational Needs and Disability

The school continues to implement its policy to identify, assess and meet the special educational needs of individual children. The school’s approach is consistent with the DCFS Code of Practice and is managed by Mrs Tracey, for details of our Local Offer please see Low Furness CE Primary School's Local Offer.

We believe that it is vital to identify any special educational needs that a child may have as early as possible. In this way a child can be actively supported and their needs can be met through specific support. This will ultimately stop the issue from becoming a major concern and barrier to learning. If teachers have identified any delay in a child’s development, specific issues with Literacy or Numeracy skills or any health related issues they will contact parents and discuss the matter.

Mrs Tracey will also be involved and will support the work in this area. Parents are welcome to come in at anytime to discuss concerns and full details of SEND provision are outlined in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Policy.
